Daniel Jiménez

Chef at La Tegala (Mácher, Lanzarote, Spain)

Daniel Jiménez

Daniel Jiménez was born in Lanzarote, where his passion for cooking began in his childhood, influenced by his father, a lover of international cuisine, and his mother, a pastry chef. Growing up in an environment of constant culinary experimentation cultivated his love for tasting and creating new flavours. In 2015, Daniel trained at Le Cordon Bleu, a prestigious culinary school, and returned to Lanzarote determined to combine traditional local cuisine with international influences.

After gaining experience in restaurants such as La Tegala, Lanis Suites, Atlántico Lounge, Kamezi (where he won 1 Repsol Sun) and Tacande, he decided to reopen La Tegala under his management in 2023. Daniel applies his philosophy of creative Canarian cuisine, prioritising local products such as carabineros de la Santa and cochino negro and combining them with global influences. His aim is to offer a gastronomic experience that combines tradition and modernity, creating menus that honour the local with a global perspective, accompanied by wines, beers and spirits from small island producers.
