Santorini and the Greek volcanoes. On the trail of lost Atlantis

Santorini and the Greek volcanoes. On the trail of lost Atlantis

Manousaki presents the volcanoes of Greece: Sousaki, Methana, Milos, the volcanic complex of Santorini and Nisyros. Volcanic systems with fumarolic and hydrothermal fields.

The Late Bronze Age eruption of Santorini in 1614 BC was one of the most powerful in the world, forming a huge caldera and generating a devastating tsunami. Excavations at the ancient city of Akrotiri revealed the magnificent Minoan civilisation that predated the eruption. The underwater volcano of Columbo, 7km from Santorini, erupted in 1650 AD, killing many with ash, pumice and poisonous gases.

Was Santorini the lost Atlantis?
